OUR HISTORY

Since 1881

NeoGraf Solutions, LLC is a company with a rich history that stretches back over 135 years. We were founded in 1881 as the Boulton Carbon Company, an independent Cleveland carbon company start-up, supporting the electric arc-lighting boom of the early 1880’s. Then, primarily due to the efforts of Cleveland businessman Washington H. Lawrence, we were transformed into the world’s largest carbon business, the National Carbon Company. In 1917, we became part of the historic effort to integrate the new oxyacetylene industry as a founding member the massive Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. From the 1920’s to the 1980’s we were part of one of the world’s largest and most important multi-national corporations, Union Carbide Inc. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, our status was constantly changing as Union Carbide attempted to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world. In 1995, we separated from Union Carbide and became GrafTech International. Now, as NeoGraf Solutions, we are again a stand-alone carbon and graphite company. Only this time, rather than being small, we are one of the highly successful companies of Aterian Investment Partners. We eagerly anticipate our next 135 years…
